Article Processing Charges (APCs) and Other Fees

Current Fee Policy

The World Journal of Experimental Biosciences (World J Exp Biosci) operates under a Diamond Open Access model, in which authors are not required to pay any fees for manuscript submission, peer review, or publication, and all published articles are freely available to readers immediately after publication.

The Journal currently charges no article processing charges (APCs) and no other mandatory publication-related fees. Specifically, the Journal does not charge authors for:

  • Manuscript submission;
  • Editorial assessment or peer review;
  • Article processing or publication;
  • Page charges;
  • Colour figure charges;
  • Supplementary material hosting;
  • Withdrawal of manuscripts at any stage of the editorial process.

This policy is supported by Unicorn Scientific Publishing (the publisher of the journal) as part of the Journal’s commitment to equitable access to scholarly publishing and to reducing financial barriers for researchers. Editorial decisions are based solely on the scientific quality, originality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and relevance of submitted manuscripts and are completely independent of any financial considerations.

Future Changes to Publication Fees

The Journal periodically reviews its publishing model to ensure long-term sustainability while maintaining transparency and accessibility for authors and readers. If any changes to publication fees are introduced in the future:

  • The revised fee policy will be announced clearly on the Journal’s website before implementation;
  • Authors will receive adequate advance notice of any changes;
  • New fees will apply only to manuscripts submitted after the effective date of the revised policy;
  • Manuscripts already submitted, under review, or accepted before the effective date will not be affected by subsequent fee changes;
  • Any future fee policy will include clear information regarding applicable waivers or discounts where appropriate.

English Language Quality and Optional Editing Services

The World Journal of Experimental Biosciences requires manuscripts to be written in clear, concise, and scientifically appropriate English to ensure effective communication of research findings to the international scientific community. Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts meet acceptable standards of language quality and readability.

Manuscripts with substantial language problems that prevent proper scientific evaluation may be returned to authors for language improvement before entering peer review or during the revision process.

Authors whose first language is not English, or authors who wish to further improve the clarity and presentation of their manuscript, may independently use professional language editing services. The use of any language editing service is entirely optional and is not required for manuscript submission, peer review, acceptance, or publication.
