Repository and Self-Archiving Policy

World Journal of Experimental Biosciences supports the broad dissemination and long-term accessibility of the research it publishes. World Journal of Experimental Biosciences supports the broad dissemination, discoverability, and long-term accessibility of the research it publishes. Authors may deposit versions of their manuscripts in institutional, disciplinary, or public repositories, as well as other recognized digital archives, without embargo, in accordance with the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) under which all published articles are distributed.

This policy complements the journal's Copyright and Open Access Policy and Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy. Together, these policies define the journal's approach to copyright, licensing, self-archiving, and the long-term preservation of the scholarly record, while supporting the broad dissemination and continued accessibility of published research.

1. Permitted Manuscript Versions

Because World Journal of Experimental Biosciences is a Diamond Open Access journal publishing exclusively under CC BY 4.0, authors may self-archive any version of their manuscript, at any time, without embargo:

1. Submitted Version (Author's Original Manuscript / Preprint): Authors may deposit the original version of their manuscript, as submitted to World Journal of Experimental Biosciences before peer review, in an institutional, disciplinary, or public preprint repository, at any time, including prior to a decision on the manuscript.

2. Accepted Version (Author Accepted Manuscript): Authors may deposit the final peer-reviewed manuscript accepted for publication, incorporating all revisions required through the review process, immediately upon acceptance with no embargo period.

3. Published Version (Version of Record, VoR): Authors may deposit and share the final published version of the article, the publisher's Version of Record, including the typeset PDF immediately upon publication, since all articles are Open Access and licensed under CC BY 4.0.

2. Permitted Repository Locations

Authors may deposit any of the above versions in:

  • Institutional repositories maintained by universities or research organizations.
  • Disciplinary or subject-based repositories relevant to their field of research.
  • Public repositories and other recognized digital archives (e.g., preprint servers, national or regional repositories).
  • The author's personal website or academic/professional profile.
  • The publisher's official journal website, where the article's Version of Record is always freely available.

3. Conditions of Self-Archiving

When depositing any version of their manuscript in a repository or on a personal website, authors are asked to:

  • Provide full and accurate citation details of the original article (authors, title, journal name, volume/issue, DOI).
  • Include a link and, where the repository allows it, the DOI to the final published article on the Journal website.
  • Clearly acknowledge World Journal of Experimental Biosciences as the journal that originally published the article.
  • Where the deposited version is the Submitted or Accepted version rather than the Version of Record, clearly label it as such, so that readers are not misled as to which version they are viewing.
  • Ensure that deposited copies are not altered in ways that misrepresent the published record, consistent with the journal's Plagiarism Policy and Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

These conditions reflect attribution good practice under CC BY 4.0 rather than additional restrictions on reuse: the license itself already permits sharing, copying, distribution, and adaptation, including for commercial use, provided proper credit is given.

5. Long-Term Access and Preservation

Self-archiving by individual authors complements, but does not replace, the journal's own commitment to permanent preservation of the published record. The journal's approach to long-term digital preservation, including its participation in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), periodic archiving via the Internet Archive, and its backup infrastructure, is described in full in the journal's Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy.

Through self-archiving alongside these preservation measures, the journal supports the responsible, wide dissemination of scientific knowledge while maintaining the integrity, citability, and traceability of the published Version of Record.
