Unicorn Scientific Publishing LLC is deeply committed to the long-term preservation and permanent accessibility of all publications under its umbrella, including the World Journal of Experimental Biosciences. Ensuring that published research remains discoverable, citable, and accessible indefinitely, independent of the continued operation of any single website, host, or organization, is a core condition of trustworthy scholarly publishing and is considered by major indexing bodies when determining a journal's continued inclusion.

1. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

World J Exp Biosci participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a free, distributed digital preservation service built on LOCKSS technology and operated by the Public Knowledge Project at Simon Fraser University. Every published issue is queued for secure, geographically distributed replication across the PKP PN's network of preservation nodes.

This guarantees that the full text of every article published in the journal remains accessible to readers and libraries, even in the unlikely event that the journal's website becomes temporarily or permanently unavailable or ceases operations.

2. Internet Archive

To provide an additional, independent layer of preservation, journal content is periodically captured and archived through the Internet Archive (archive.org), a non-profit digital library that operates its own data centers and provides long-term web archiving to libraries and publishers worldwide. This ensures that snapshots of the journal's published content and website remain retrievable through a source entirely independent of the journal's own infrastructure, supporting uninterrupted researcher access to past publications.

3. Daily Backup Policy

In collaboration with the journal's hosting provider, Hostinger, World J Exp Biosci maintains a daily backup of the entire journal website, including all files, images, and databases. Backups are retained on a rolling 30-day basis, allowing the journal to restore content quickly and accurately in the event of technical failure, data corruption, or other unexpected incidents.

4. Offline Backup for Extra Security

As an additional precaution beyond server-side and third-party archiving, the journal's editorial team regularly creates backups of the website and database. These backups are stored in encrypted cloud storage managed by the publisher and on secure encrypted external hard drives that are kept offline. This layered backup strategy ensures that the integrity and availability of published content do not depend solely on any single hosting provider, preservation network, storage medium, or online service, and provides an additional safeguard against accidental data loss, system failure, or cyber incidents.

5. What Is Preserved

The journal's preservation measures apply to the full scholarly record, including:

  • The full text (PDF) of all published articles.
  • Bibliographic and citation metadata (including DOI registrations via Crossref).
  • Associated supplementary files submitted as part of the published record.
  • Retraction notices, corrections, and errata, which remain permanently linked to the original article as described in the journal's Plagiarism Policy and Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement.

6. Continuity of Access in the Event of Discontinuation

Should World Journal of Experimental Biosciences cease publication or become unable to maintain its website, the journal's participation in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) and the preservation of its content through the Internet Archive are intended to help ensure that previously published articles remain permanently and freely accessible. These preservation measures support the long-term availability, integrity, and continuity of the journal's scholarly record, independent of the continued operation of the journal's website.

7. Author and Reader Self-Archiving

Preservation of the version of record through the mechanisms above is separate from, and complementary to, authors' own rights to deposit and share their work. Authors' rights to self-archive accepted or published versions of their articles in institutional or subject repositories are set out separately in the journal's Repository and Self-Archiving Policy and Copyright, and open access policies.

8. Alignment with International Best Practices

This Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy is designed in accordance with internationally recognized best practices for the long-term preservation of scholarly publications. Through its participation in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), supplementary archiving via the Internet Archive, routine website and database backups, and secure offline backup procedures, World Journal of Experimental Biosciences is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility, integrity, authenticity, and permanence of the published scholarly record.

These preservation measures support the journal's commitment to responsible scholarly publishing and help ensure that published content remains discoverable, accessible, and citable over time, including in the event of technical failures or the discontinuation of the journal's website.
