Data Availability and Sharing Policy

The World Journal of Experimental Biosciences (World J Exp Biosci) is committed to promoting transparency, reproducibility, and responsible sharing of research data. Authors are encouraged to make the data supporting their published findings available whenever this can be done ethically, legally, and practically.

This policy concerns the availability and sharing of research data and supporting materials underlying published research. It does not govern the deposit or self-archiving of manuscript versions, which is addressed separately in the journal's Repository and Self-Archiving Policy.

1. Data Availability Statement

Authors reporting original research should include an appropriate Data Availability Statement in their manuscript, where applicable. The statement should clearly indicate how the data supporting the reported findings can be accessed.

Depending on the nature of the research, the statement may indicate that:

  • The data are publicly available in a recognized research data repository, with the relevant DOI, accession number, or persistent link.
  • The data are included in the article or its supplementary materials.
  • The data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
  • The data cannot be publicly shared because of ethical, privacy, legal, confidentiality, or other legitimate restrictions; or
  • The data availability is not applicable because no new data were generated or analyzed.

2. Sharing and Repositories

The World Journal of Experimental Biosciences encourages authors, where appropriate, to deposit research data supporting their findings in a suitable research data repository, preferably a recognized disciplinary, institutional, or general-purpose repository.

Where research data are deposited in a repository, authors should provide the repository name and an appropriate persistent identifier, accession number, or stable link in the manuscript.

Publicly available datasets should be appropriately cited and acknowledged in the manuscript and reference list.

3. Responsible Data Sharing

Data sharing must comply with applicable ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual-property, institutional, and contractual requirements.

For research involving human participants or sensitive information, authors must ensure that data sharing does not compromise participant privacy or confidentiality. Where public sharing is not possible, authors should explain the relevant restriction in the Data Availability Statement and, where feasible, indicate how qualified researchers may request access.

4. Supporting Materials and Reproducibility

Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to make available materials that support the reproducibility of their research, including datasets, experimental protocols, statistical or analytical materials, software, source code, and other relevant supporting materials.

Specific requirements applicable to particular types of research, including clinical trials and sequence data, are provided in the journal's Guidelines for Authors and relevant research-ethics policies.

5. Editorial Oversight and Post-Publication Concerns

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and appropriate documentation of the data underlying their published research.

Where scientifically or ethically appropriate, World Journal of Experimental Biosciences may request access to underlying data or supporting materials during peer review or after publication to investigate questions concerning the integrity, accuracy, or reproducibility of published research.

Concerns relating to the integrity, availability, or presentation of research data will be handled in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and the relevant principles and guidelines referenced therein, including COPE guidance.
